sorry...

"I happened to _saw_ the ..." -> "I happened to _see_ the "

I often made lots of mistakes in my writing, especially I drafted them hastily...I am neither a native English speaker nor do I write it well...just that I often have to use it as my first language...so forgive me if any grammar police catches anything wrong down there; just let it go and let us focus on the key issues in the semantics...

I happened to saw the following comment made on HN the other day (after the recent Paris attack); and I feel he made some really good points...so I am posting it here for anyone interested on the issue...Had to split the whole paragraph into 5 fragments in order to get around the word count restrictions imposed by the system...

Last I will quote some words by George Orwell; and by them I hope one's rationality and reasoning won't be overcome by his/her anger, hatred and animosity...

"A man may take to drink because he feels himself to be a failure, and then fail all the more completely because he drinks. It is rather the same thing that is happening to the English language. It becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts. The point is that the process is reversible."

-- George Orwell

I work with a Muslim and I'm a Christian. Since we are both very conservative, I actually have more in common with him than with my secular coworkers and friends. Unfortunately we both work remotely and live several hundred miles from each other. I think we could be good friends if we lived closer.

One thing I have learned talking with my Muslim coworker is that, just like in Christianity, there are many divisions and sects within the religion. I am Atlantean and go to an Atlantean church. I would not want to be called a Phoenician or Liliputian christian (made up names cause I don't want to offend anyone this early in the morning).

Just as with anything else, the closer and more involved you are with something the more you see distinctions between different categories of that thing. As a total outsider your categories tend to be large, all encompassing and dominated by the loudest, most visible or most discussed sub category. For most westerners I think that sub category is, unfortunately radicalised Muslims.

I'm fortunate that my coworker has given me a different perspective. I never believed all Muslims were radicalised but the true revelation for me was that my Muslim coworker was more like me than most non-muslims.

It saddens me to see states in my country rejecting refugees from Syria. They are depriving their residents of potential friends and coworkers, potential spouses, neighbors or playmates that can give them a new perspective and help make their world a little larger and more interesting.

that's why I like many services provided by google (not including the g-plus)...

when you are going to make a severance from a certain application...it allows you to download all your data in a portable format (such as xml or json) with google-takeout, which is a dedicated service to export your data...

For any web application, if I am not sure that I could easily go away without much side effect, I won't start with it in the first place...
